What does a realistic tech setup look like in a small church with 75–100 people?
It probably doesn’t look like the $10,000–$15,000 “budget” setups often featured online. One small church has built its sound and lighting system gradually over several years, using what it already had, replacing things only when necessary, and finding creative ways to make older gear work.
The setup includes an analog Yamaha soundboard, floor monitors, standard SM58 microphones, inexpensive lighting, a simple pad system, and other gear that has been collected over time. Some of it is highly recommended. Some of it definitely isn’t. And some of it has broken often enough to become a running joke.
But that’s really the point.
Good ministry doesn’t require having the newest equipment. A small church can work with what it has, keep things simple, and build a functional setup over time.
